Highlights from the first month in Japan. A time for exploring the city, getting caught up with work and meeting new people.
Top row: Strawberry Kit Kats and an obsession is born. Roppongi Crossing sizzles in the heat. I found Bento heaven.
Middle row: Samurai noodles. Tokyo Tower. Meiji Shrine. The downtown platform at Yurakucho station.
Bottom row: When you walk… into a bar and the first thing you see is a Liverpool scarf. Japanese bowling shoes are very cute, of course. The Prada building in Omotesando.
Quite a lot of this is food, I realise! With a little time for sightseeing on the weekends and some bar hopping with new friends and colleagues, the first month in Japan has been a busy one. Time has flown by so fast that settling into the new apartment, laundry and figuring out the train system will have to wait. On the teaching side of things, after one week of training in Roppongi it was time to meet new colleagues and receive our initial schedules. Mine had me teaching in a different school on four out of the five days so that was a few different train lines to acclimatise to. It was too hot to move and almost too hot to eat – until I discovered the joys of cold Hiyashi Chuka ramen, that is!
